goodbye nab

My wife and I have been customers of the nab for the past 27 years. But no longer. Over the past couple of weeks we have opened a new account with a bank that is not one of the ‘big four’.

There were a number of direct debit arrangements to change; screenshots of the details of commonly-used payees to grab, and ensuring we had csv downloads of our recent transactions.

But with those three tasks done, and our new debit cards tested out, I was able to ‘chat’ to someone at the nab online and ask them to close all of our accounts.

The reason? Over the last couple of years the nab has been virtue signalling through statements on their site advocating Covid-19 vaccinations and, more recently, encouraging all customers to embrace the nab’s view on climate change.

Will the withdrawal of our shekels make any difference to the nab? No. But it will make a difference to me by not having to look at the absurd virtue signalling crud on their website.
